It was a big weekend here at the Hemphill house.

We worked on a few projects that took a lot of time and energy + we worked on a few "projects" that took a lot of prayer, patience and promises.

For a while now, I have been doing my best to wean from nursing and from co-sleeping. Though it is for some people to nurse for as long as possible and co-sleep until their children start school and their second, third and fourth babies have long been sleeping in their cribs... it is not for me or my husband.

I think Julia, from Parenthood (yes I know it has ended but, weekends+Netflix=Gilmore Girls and Parenthood on a loop, sue me) says it best when she is explaining to Sidney that she needs to sleep in her own room. "When mommies and daddies first meet they fill up this bubble of love and they just get so infatuated with it. Then, babies come along and they are so, so happy... but unfortunately the bubble gets tight and there just isn't enough room. So, the daddies start to get pushed out" therefore confirming that 1. the mothers ALWAYS put the babies to sleep and 2. that there just isn't enough room... and sometimes, that the daddies just need a little extra attention, like the babies.

So, in this house, we are trying our best to focus on the BIG + little things. Tonight, Mason, so far, is fast asleep in his crib. We currently don't have a night light, but the door is open and the hall light is on. Just like when I was growing up, the intention is always the best when we start out in our own beds. So, prayers for this momma as we hopefully ALL get our own F U L L night of much needed rest.

Secondly, weaning from nursing. WHAT IS THIS LIFE. How do you do it, what are your tricks, HOW do I not have a screaming child that is pulling at my shirt in front of every company and stranger EVER.

Let me know your tips, tricks and bargains. Right now all I have is cookies and there are only a few left.

Sincerely, Shelbi
