Sweet Mason,

Happy 1STBirthday sweet boy! Though to you, this is just every other day… I’ve less than enthusiastically put you together a special puppy party, because you will no longer be just my little baby. You are turning into my littlest boy, and I don’t want this age to end.

You are so sweet, loving and incredibly intelligent. So much so, that you know when your Mommy is around and when she decides to walk to the garage for a water. You are very alert and aware of all of your surroundings. You are FUNNY, you make us laugh and you loveto laugh at yourself. You have made our sweet puppies your playground, your chew toy and your very best friend. You have yet to be knocked over and Pearly girl is absolutely obsessed with you, some might think that she believes you are her baby

You have grown a lot this past year, from sleeping your days away – to giggling, crawling, walking. To trying new foods, to finallyeating something besides milk. You have still not allowed anyone to watch you, besides myself and your Gogo.

I have loved watching every second of your personality shine through. Everyone teases you that you are, “just like your momma”. You are outspoken, loud quietly anxious, a lover, a boy with his heart on his sleeve… you are so, so independent, yet you aren’t afraid to ask for me or daddy. Don’t let anyone dull your shine or quiet your voice. You are so, so special. With those qualities come some of my favorite things about you: you are soobservant, determined to do things independently and a lover of all things.

For as long as I can remember, struggled with self-doubt. I have always wondered why someone wouldn’t fight to be the best parent they could to me when I was your age. But then… you came along. You are everything I am… you are loud, you never stop going, you are only quite when you are sleeping. But you are also soft hearted, you give the best hugs and you make every moment of my life better. So for as long as I have wondered and played the what if… game about me; I realized it wasn’t me that there was something wrong with… it was them. You have changed all of my doubts and I have never been more sure of anything than I am of you and your sweet, sweet love. Being your mom is the single best thing that has ever happened to me.

If I can make you any promises for this next year, I will promise to do my very best. But I have never been a mommy to a one year old before. So if you give me grace, I will give it back to you.

I hope this next year brings love, laughter and so many memories. You are so special Mason. Thank you for being the greatest boy in the whole world, I hope you always look at me the way you do when you are drifting off to sleep. I could not imagine this life without you.

Love you BIG bubs!

Mama
